I concur, I’m amazed we don’t have it on CA!

Reagan Russell about 9 years

Well, it may be an issue with copyright; Microsoft owns C++ and C#. Java and C, however, should be okay…

haxor789 about 9 years

C# is created by Microsoft and they have made compilers for C++ and C# but they don’t own these languages… But there are two things that might make this complicated, first of all the c family normaly compiles directly to machine readable code so making an online interpreter for this is well not what it is made for and second this site has its focus mainly on easy to learn web languages and the C family is mighty enough to write an OS or AAA games, but they aren’t that common for web developement.

Reagan Russell about 9 years

Yeah, thanks for clearing that up.

Thanks Haxor789

haxor789: doesn’t necessarily need an online interpreter. The code doesn’t execute as you type or anything anyway.

  1. Code
  2. Hit submit; compiles
  3. Executes.

Naturally it could only be programs in one file, but still it could work.

Amen. What irks me is that CodeAcademy hasn’t yet added most of the “serious” languages, such as Java, Perl, and C++. They really should…

Raushan Gaurav over 9 years

yes, this is amazing website to design and learn d languages,, they must give tutorilas for java and c++

Epicness3001 over 9 years

Some of the older languages like Basic virtual and binary would be nice for beginners

I don’t really think it’s Codecademy that creates the courses… more random people that are willing to submit their lessons to the staff for upload. We just need someone willing to put a course together to do this.

The problem with languages like java and C++ are that you do not only need a course but also a compiler JVM to translate your code into something that can be read by a computer because that is the point of using these low level languages you write human (programmer) readable code which is translated to machine code which can than be processed really fast.

This is the Q&A to an exercise… This is not often frequented by staff, only by moderators so this is just the wrong place to ask. Have a look at the links I posted above.

actually JavaScript is available, java is just the browser that the JavaScript code runs on.

haxor789 over 9 years

? JavaScript is a scripting language that is mainly used in the web. Java is a programming language that is used because it can be run on any OS. There are aswell JavaApplets for the web, but most of the time java is online is just considered a security issue so its dissabled by default (or should be). The most browsers are written in C++ with maybe other languages as forntend.

s’il vous plais vous pourriez ajoutez des cours supplémentaires sur c et java ce serait vraiment mais vraiment trop cool de votre par il y a des centaines voir des milliers comme moi qui voudrait apprendre le c et java sur codeacademy mais ont en a pas la possibilité et les autre site ne sont pas aussi clair que vous. vous etes les meilleures alors pourquoi ont irait voir ailleurs juste pour le c et java ce sera avantageux d’apprendre sur un seul et unique site aussi clair et détaillé que le votre - - - - - - - - - - Please you can add additional courses c and java but it would be really really cool too with your there are hundreds or thousands of people like me who want to learn c and java but codeacademy has no opportunity and the other sites are not as clear as you. you are the best so why did go elsewhere just to c and java this will be advantageous to learn about a single site as clear and detailed as yours (sorry my english is not perfect because i’m french)

From my thoughts on what people say about C++, it would be extremely difficult to find just one programmer that knows all of C++. Furthermore, it simply wouldn’t be practical for beginners, which I would estimate to be about 50% of the Codecademy population, but I don’t have access to statistics, so that’s an uneducated guess. Besides, all the people who fully know C++ and would be comfortable creating a course are all derping around being lead programmers of Battlefield 5 or something.

C++ is not that hard after all and at least for the basics there are probably plenty of tutorials. Its just that CC is meant for web development languages.
