Hey there :)
First of all I'd like to thank you for the PHP course, thanks to you I overcame my fear of learning a server-side languages!

Overall the course was great, understandable and interesting. However it wasn't challenging. I know you guys are trying to offer everyone the opportunity to learn different coding languages, but it really gets dull when you move from a language to the other finding out that it's almost the same with slight differences. (Maybe offer extra exercises/challenges and give points for them).

Furthermore the explanation concerning objects wasn't really satisfying, I mean objects are really tough to understand(or so I believe). So maybe organizing the explanation differently might solve the issue.

Also I believe that there are some bugs that need taking care of :) I've noticed that a couple of times when I 'Save & Submit Code' the 'Start Next Lesson' appears but a code error appears on the preview screen (My code was faulty but it didn't indicate so).

"Overall the course was great, understandable and interesting." Are you referring to this course or the PHP track in general. "Furthermore the explanation concerning objects wasn't really satisfying, I mean objects are really tough to understand(or so I believe). So maybe organizing the explanation differently might solve the issue." Would you mind to make some suggestions? :-)

Please don't ever change. Love how your courses are written for beginners.

Did notice that bug too where my code is getting the green light but there are errors in the browser panel?

Definitely can use a better lesson on objects. Especially when we get to lesson 5/10, I was able to get the right answer using the hints, but my code didn't make a lot of sense to me. So I could not explain what my code was actually doing and why. That is not how I like to learn. And that is not how I can learn and master a language.

Unable to scroll the side description page and also not able to see the scroll bar on the coding part. Not sure if it is a problem with the changes or an error in general.

Would you mind to upload a screenshot on tinypic and would you mind to provide some further information?

Thank you very much for all your efforts, I was trying to learn PHP since some time ago. It's very easy to go and helpful, I would like you to add "UML"and a short "know how" how to set up the environment to program all the languages taught here, please. Are you thinking in adding C++? What's the best code editor and for debugging you recommend?

  • Where would you like me to add UML? - I've started a course teaching how to use JavaScript offline, but unfortunately I don't really have the time to complete it. I think Python and Ruby can be downloaded and to run PHP (as you did here at CC) you need a server. - Codecademy currently does not provide the environment to teach C++, so I guess every try to teach C++ will fail. - For which languages do you need a code editor?

Thanks for the response, about UML it would be fine if you add some UML graphics to the exercises you made us do in PHP, I mean UML it is universal right, I'm just wondering about the use of it when coding and get the tracking and how to work in team within some project. About code editors, I used to program in VFP(FoxPro) and I used a don't-remember editor where we can compare 2 different versions of the same program, in your experience which one or ones are good to do the job. And for debugging I think the best way is their own applications right? I'll give it a shot to python as soon as I finish the course. Thanks again for all your hard work, you're doing great!

Perhaps there'll be further courses / exercises explaining UML, as I think also using these would go beyond the scope of this introductory course. I suggest using these (or a documentation), when dealing with bigger programs, as keeping an overview is more difficult then. Concerning editors, perhaps have a look at this discussion: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/19923537/whats-the-best-free-javascript-ide (or this one: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/116292/what-is-the-best-ide-for-php).

You are welcome! :-) (Although I'm sorry I can't be of further help.)
