Why is the elseif structure not introduced before this point?

We are asked to use elseif in a if statement but you did not discuss its use earlier.

I'm the one who wrote the Switch course. I wasn't aware that the else ifs wasn't taught (Which IMO it should have - Oddly this has been way over a year and no one has noticed it ... shrug). I'll contact the Codecademy guys sometime about this. Either modify my excersice or the previous ones to teach else ifs.

Cheers :)

Simon Emms wrote the previous course, so maybe you two could work together to ask Codecademy to update it?

Many people who learn PHP are JavaScript-experienced users. The JavaScript course teaches if/else if/else statements.

Of course, you could always head over to the forum for an explanation of if/else if/else statements or search it on the internet!

"Many people" is pretty useless :-) I never learned JS, but went straight to PHP - and I'm certain I'm not the only one in the world skipping JS...

As for heading to the forum or searching the web: This course should ideally render those options useless, since that's part of the course's core promise :-)

Fair enough, from the language of the course I also suspected the author presumed we'd follow the "indirectly suggested" order and take the JS course before trying PHP. But I didn't. PHP is the most popular coding language for developers in my part of the world, so I wanted to check it out first, plus I already have more exposure to it thanks to WordPress. And the course doesn't mention Javascript as technical prerequisite or recommended skill.

It's been over two months and there hasn't been a change to the course. Just saying . . .

Just curious, but this still seems to not have been fixed or introduced in the course. Please talk about the elseif statement.
