Job

Can anyone get a job after taking classes on Codecademy? I am desperately trying to break into computer programming/web design business, any ideas will be appreciated! I love programming but it looks like it will take me years to master it and I don’t have years. I want it like now!

I’m interested in the same thing Magayane.

Pallav_khurana is right, to a point. A degree might help. However, I don’t know where you’re from, but here in the UK so many people have degrees that they have little value.

The way I see it, the best thing to do is keep coding! If you love it as much as you say you do you’re probably coding as much as you can. Keep doing that. Keep making stuff and keep trying to better yourself with every new project.

That’s ultimately what a degree in programming (theoretically speaking) allows you to do: To build a high quality portfolio of work with the help of professional mentors and peers, so that you have something of value to show employers.

Regardless of whether you have a degree in it or not, the more cool finished projects you can show off that you’ve done, and the more people you show it to, the more likely you are to get a job doing it.

I agree with both comments up there. But you can find a job as a freelancer since when it comes to freelancing industry they didn’t much care about your degree. What they want to see are the things you have done and what have you proven already. Still having a degree is an essential especially if you had the opportunity, unfortunately I wasn’t given an opportunity. Still I keep to manage to get a job on the freelance industry.

Keep coding and get those jobs.
