Why should i write my consumer secret to codecademy though it should stay a secret?

I just accepted way too blindly some big developer aggreement.
Now I don't like the idea to write my "consumer secret" (which i have to keep secret) into this codecademy exercise.

This doesn't seem safe. or do i miss something?

You can always go back to where you got your keys, and press the Revoke Token Access button at the bottom of the page. After you are done with them of course.
