Looks like the problem is in the server. Because many people have the same problem.

too many people & the server can't handle it. annoying, but as we don't pay for anything here, can't moan too much :)

I emailed support about it yesterday. This was the response.

"Sounds like you're experiencing issues with connecting to Codecademy PHP. With certain courses, you may experience a lag in connection—this means our server is restarting or that too many people are on the course at one time. We're working really hard on fixing this issue—it's one of our top priorities right now.

We really appreciate your patience and are working to make Codecademy faster for everyone."

Honestly, when i'm reading some of your comments i'm surprised with your reactions.
I'm talking about shouting at admins ("DO SOMETHING") and childish: "I'll go learn PHP somewhere else", etc.
You have everything for free here, and you're complaining like you were little kids.
I'm sure, that admins are perfectly aware of the problem and if it's not gone, that means that it's not as easy, as we would like it to be.

Agree.. But any reaction from the developer team would be nice, so we all can get feedback. I think this issue caused by thousands of errors on server-side when web-interface trying to submit incomplete code (without semicolons, brackets, required arguments and etc.). I believe that issue can be fixed by removing AJAX auto-submitting your code everytime you stop typing.

They know about it and they do not care. Have you noticed message at the top of the screen when it happens? Click on it and you will go to the page which tells you that they know about this problem and they also tell you if problem persists to and do something else. I have finished PHP course despite this annoying issue, consider this as patience training, if you want to code in future you will need it allot.

First, this appears happen once you make a mistake. If you get it perfect the first time it seems to be fine. Once you make a mistake I suspect that the changes you are making to correct the mistake are not updating before the interpreter gets back and so you get "out of sync." I find that even if I leave and come back the system continues to have the same problem, probably because it has cached the 'corrupted' version (meaning the one without the correction you have made on the screen).. Now for a solution that seems to work for me.

First, make sure the code is right. Better to suffer through double and triple checking until you get all the semi-colons in place, the " marks correct and all that rather than have to do it all over and over.

Then, once you are certain you have things right....remove the // comments the system put in there to tell you where to write your code. At least the 3-4 times I've had this problem that has worked for me. If I've removed the // comments before I do the code and get this message, I "reset" and leave them in until I am done. Then get the code right, remove the comments and bingo! Hope this helps.

Hello guys ...
This error happening because of our slow typing...
What happening, you all notice that when you write anything it start processing and showing on display screen....
But when it is unable because of our syntax or unknown command then our interpreter show us an error......

This not a bug or not a anytype of problem in server....

How to avoid it
Its not difficult ....

Some people write there code one by one letter...
look like ( strlen($nam )
and between this our program get error....
But when I write like this

First outer border Look Like ( strlen(); )
and then the name of variable it doesnot show any error ....

This happen for me ........
If doesnot do anything then sorry and plz... donot blame me....

I'm surprised that this worked for you. I had the same thought, so I hid my code in comments until I was ready to submit, and it still gave the same error, even while I was writing comments! So who knows...

Regardless, it's a problem that the admins need to address.
