Supporting New Yorkers Affected by COVID-19 Through State and City Partnerships

Codecademy is proud to call New York home. That’s why we are honored to announce two new partnerships with New York State and the City of New York, which will help thousands of New Yorkers gain access to computer science training and education opportunities in response to the COVID-19 crisis.

At the state level, Codecademy is joining forces with the New York State COVID-19 Technology SWAT Team, spearheaded by Governor Cuomo. Codecademy will deploy six-month training licenses to members of New York State’s Office of Information Technology Services who are on the front line of the government’s response to the pandemic.

At the city level, Codecademy is integrating with the newly-launched Career Discovery NYC, a digital training tool created by the city’s Department of Small Business Services to help New Yorkers explore, discover, prepare and train for in-demand careers. Codecademy will provide Pro memberships to eligible New Yorkers through the platform, empowering people to unlock new skills and explore new career opportunities in technology.

Whether you’re a state employee or a private citizen, learning technical skills has the power to open doors and transform lives. At the onset of the pandemic, it became clear how valuable our education platform would be for people across the globe, which is why we’re committed to helping through initiatives like our student scholarships, worker support campaign and most recently these public-private partnerships.

As the world witnessed this spring, there are few places with more strength and resilience than New York. Although the Codecademy team is currently spread across the world due to COVID-19, each one of us has a special bond to the city and state. We are thrilled to make an impact for our fellow New Yorkers and increase access to coding education throughout the state and beyond.
